A piece of artwork by the world renowned and very elusive street artist Banksy has been installed in a Nashville art gallery for a special street art exhibit.

The piece, called Haight Street Rat, was installed Tuesday morning at Tinney Contemporary – an art gallery located on 5th Avenue.

“We wanted to bring international street artists to Nashville,” said Susan Tinney of Tinney Contemporary.

The piece was brought to Nashville as part of the Nashville Walls Project.

The project, presented by the Gibson Custom Shop and led by members of the art community, will bring world famous muralists to Nashville with the intention of having them raise murals on the side of buildings that have seen better days.

The Banksy piece will be on display for the public at Tinney Contemporary starting on Saturday, May 7, at 6 p.m., and will continue to be on display Tuesday through Saturday for the next month while the gallery is open.
