An investigation was launched over the weekend in Putnam County after a body was recovered from the scene of a structure fire.
The incident was reported early Sunday morning on Edwards Lane in the Bloomington Springs community, located about 8 miles northeast of Cookeville.
Officials with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said firefighters were called to the scene of a structure fire around 7:40 a.m.
They arrived and found a building located behind a home fully engulfed in flames.
After the fire was extinguished, a body was found inside.
Officials with the Tennessee State Bomb and Arson division were also called to the scene.
The remains were sent off to the State Medical Examiner where an autopsy would be conducted.
The investigation remains ongoing.
