It was a beautiful day to attend the Nashville Cherry Blossom Festival, and a lot of people turned out for it.
Japanese culture, food, and lots of fun had people heading to the Public Square downtown Saturday.
Things kicked off with a walk, and festival goers got to experience music and demonstrations.
The day was for a good cause as they have a plan to plant more trees.
Those with the festival said there’s a ten-year mission to plant 1,000 cherry trees in the city.
Carolyn Sorenson, a member of the Nashville Tree Foundation, discussed the importance of planting trees.
"Trees help filter storm water, and they help filter pollutants from the air, and they make us a healthier city," Sorenson said.
They added another plus is trees keep the city from being too hot.
