There’s a way to dispose of your Christmas tree this year while helping elephants who have been calling Tennessee their home.
Anyone with a live Christmas tree has been invited to drop off the tree at the Elephant Sanctuary in downtown Hohenwald between December 26 and January 6.
Donated trees will be given to the elephants by caregivers to supplement their diets and serve as enrichment items.
“The purpose of this program is to not only provide the elephants with more variety to their diet but to also allow the public to donate and connect to the elephants” said Lead Caregiver Kristy Eaker, who helped to spearhead the program.
