A collision possibly played a role in Jerry Greer's death - son of country singer Craig Morgan - while the 19-year-old was tubing on Kentucky Lake in Humphreys County.

Greer went missing Sunday afternoon while tubing with friends near Mason's Boat Dock in Waverly. His body was recovered around 9 p.m. the following day.

According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Greer’s body had bruising consistent with an impact or collision.

They believe he likely collided with another person on the tube when it flipped. It’s unclear what happened after that.

Officials also said the life jacket he was wearing was not approved by the US Coast Guard.

People often wear impact life jackets for water sports purposes because they are thinner and more ergonomically designed.

The Medical Examiner has been set to ultimately determine the cause of death.

The family released a statement in part, saying they are "grateful for everyone’s support and prayers and requests privacy during this difficult time."

Visitation services for Greer were set for Friday, July 15 from 5-7 p.m. at the Walnut Street Church of Christ in Dickson. The funeral service was set for the next day, July 16 at 11 a.m. at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Nashville.
