A community gathered for a one of a kind retirement party.

Art II has been a service dog, and for the last 9.5 years he has helped Rhonda Clark with her day-to-day activities.

Clark has Cerebral Palsy, and she has counted on Art to help her with everything from opening doors to doing laundry.

In late May, Art celebrated his tenth birthday and retired just two days later.

Clark's church threw him a retirement party Saturday afternoon to honor his services.

Despite everything he's helped Clark accomplish, she said he's taught her one very important lesson.

"The biggest thing for Art is, that Art has done for me, is that he's taught me how to love and be loved," Clark said.

Art will likely end up living out his days with one of Clark's close friends. Meanwhile, Clark has been preparing to welcome a new service dog into her life.
