Authorities were called to investigate an early morning house fire that destroyed a residence in northern Davidson County.
The blaze was reported after 4:30 a.m. Monday on East Campbell Road in Madison.
Heavy flames could be seen shooting from the roof of the residence.
Officials on the scene said someone called 911 and said that an elderly couple lived at the home.
Firefighters conducted at least two searches but did not find anyone inside the residence.
No additional details were known.
