A Rutherford County detention officer has been arrested for child rape and aggravated sexual battery.
Mark Garza was taken into custody and has been terminated from his job at the detention center.
According to the arrest record, the Garza and the victim were in the same home when the incident took place. The victim used the restroom in the room next door, but when she walked out of the bathroom, Garza was allegedly waiting on her.
The report went on to say Garza forced the victim onto the bed and raped her. He was on paid leave during the investigation and has now been booked into jail.
Murfreesboro Sex Crimes Unit officials have been working the case. Garza was indicted on the two charges by a Rutherford County Grand Jury.
Garza was booked at the Rutherford County Detention Center, where he used to work. It was unclear he would remain incarcerated there or not.
