Plans Needed To Move Abandoned Vehicles

For anyone who has been out on the roads, it’s been easy to spot abandoned cars along the interstate or the side of the road where people ran into problems and got stuck in the snow.

Most of those vehicles, especially those on the interstates, have had a green sticker placed on them.

That meant a police officer has stopped to check that vehicle to make sure no one was inside who needed assistance.

Police said now they need people to start making arrangements to have their vehicles moved.

“There's really no specific timeline, obviously as soon as people can make arrangements you know via a friend, wrecker service, whatever the case may be, they need to make an effort to have the vehicle removed from the roadways,” said Captain Michael Alexander, of the Metro Nashville Police Department. “Obviously we don't mind assisting in that effort, you know up to and including meeting that person back at the location to provide for their safety as they try to retrieve their vehicle.”

Metro Police said drivers can call them at 615-862-8600 with questions about the vehicle that was abandoned during this winter storm.
