If you're planning on wearing a mask covering your entire face this Halloween, you may want to rethink your costume.
Bars, restaurants, and other establishments throughout the United States and Nashville have decided to not allow people to wear face-covering masks, even on Halloween.
In Tennessee, many bars will require people to not wear masks so they can check identification before serving them alcohol, while others have disallowed them altogether.
Some have become more weary of people wearing masks following the clowns that have been showing up in neighborhoods across the country, leading those in the costume industry to remind people to behave themselves.
"Think about what you're doing. If I'm in the 7/11 and I see somebody get out of their car and they've got a full face mask on, I'm going to hide in the cooler because chances are they're up to no good," Gary Broadrick, owner of Performance Studios in Nashville, said.
Police in Nashville said they won't put up with anyone who's up to no good, masks or not.
"The police department, every Halloween, takes a zero-tolerance approach to any criminal activity or prank activity that tends to cross the line," Don Aaron, public affairs manager for the Metro Nashville Police Department, said, adding that those in masks should not operate a vehicle.
Broadrick suggested if you plan to wear a face-covering mask that you plan accordingly. Wear it at your own home, while trick-or-treating, or at private parties.
