The parents of a 27-year-old shot during an armed robbery in downtown Nashville have been asking for the public's help to find whoever shot their son.

Dietrich Minor was walking to the Batter's Box in SoBro on Monday night when police said he was approached by two men in an SUV. Authorities believed the two suspects had robbed a homeless man moments prior before they attacked Minor near the corner of Lea Avenue and Hermitage Avenue.

"It was devastating, it was just devastating," his mother Becky Burtard said sitting outside of the E.R. at Vanderbilt University Medical Center on Friday afternoon.

Becky and her family flew in from Colorado on Tuesday morning as soon as they received a call from one of Dietrich's friends that he had been shot.

"Where do these people get their standard of life, you know?" she wondered about the men who shot her son.

Police have made no arrests in the case.

The bullet that barely missed Dietrich's heart hit his kidney, liver and stomach. Doctors at Vanderbilt said they believe he'll have to remain at the hospital for at least a month.

"Somebody had to see something, we're hoping someone comes forward," Dietrich's dad said.

Dietrich had just went off of his family's health insurance two weeks ago when he turned 27. To help with medical bills friends have set up a gofundme account. To donate, click here.

Police have been wanting anyone with information to call 615-74-CRIME (615-742-7463).
