A North Nashville motorcycle club gave back to their community and worked to break stereotypes on Sunday by feeding those who may otherwise not have a hot meal.
The meal was part of The Best of Both Worlds Motorcycle Club’s sixth annual “Feed the Hood” event.
Every year leading up to Thanksgiving, the group of bikers and community members have cooked up dishes to feed to the community in North Nashville in an effort to give back to their community.
“That’s our motto, we lead and allow others to follow, so we want to be a trendsetter when it comes to giving back to the community,” Otis ‘O Dawg’ Singleton, President of the BBW Motorcycle Club, said.
Members of the club said that many people have perceived motorcycle clubs as “gangs” and as “violent,” but they said that’s not the case.
“Don’t be so quick to judge,” Ltisha Veals, a member of the BBW Motorcycle Club, said. “We are definitely willing to give back and love and everything.”
Veals said she thinks instead of negative connotations, the words loving and caring are a better fit for their group of bikers.
“I feel like I’m in the best club in the world, because this is what we do. We give back to the community,” Veals said.
People young and old attended the event, and while the visitors thanked the club, members of the club said they’re the ones who are truly thankful.
“It makes me feel real good [to help the community],” Singleton said. “I’m blessed, and this is one way our club has been able to bless others.”
The club has planned to continue the "Feed the Hood" event next year, but in the meantime, they planned on collecting warm clothes for both men and women to donate to the community leading into the winter months.
If you have clothes you are willing to donate, you’re asked to bring it to the Best of Both Worlds Club House.
