Firefighter Arrested For DUI In Murfreesboro

Posted

A Murfreesboro firefighter was arrested on a DUI charge after authorities responded to the scene due to a report of a stolen cell phone.

Officials with the Murfreesboro Police Department said an officer went to an apartment in the 500 block of Dill Lane around 1:10 a.m. Thursday.

Once there, the officer was informed the man who had reported the stolen cell phone had left to go to a local pizza restaurant and would return home shortly.

When that man, identified as 34-year-old Wayne V. Sutter, returned home, authorities said he parked his car sideways across two parking spots.

According to reports, Sutter then got out of the car and walked toward the officer who said Sutter appeared to be unsteady. The officer added Sutter also smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot, watery eyes, and was slurring his words.

Sutter agreed to take sobriety tests on site, which the officer said he did not pass.

Sutter was arrested and taken to the jail in Rutherford County where he agreed to a test to determine the alcohol and drug content of his blood.

According to authorities, Sutter’s cell phone was found in his car, so no theft report was filed.
