Officials said the death of an Army veteran whose body was found in a wooded area of Middle Tennessee has been ruled a homicide.
Montgomery County Sheriff's spokeswoman Sandra Brandon told The Leaf-Chronicle Wednesday the state medical examiner's office said 30-year-old Melissa Sue Napier was a homicide victim.
Napier's body was discovered in a wooded area of Palmyra in December by a hunter. She had been reported missing December 8 by her brother.
Napier served 4.5 years in the Army, including two tours in Iraq working as a chemical operations specialist. She had been based at Fort Campbell and was living in Clarksville when she disappeared.
Brandon said the investigation into Napier's death was continuing.
