A large gas leak closed a portion of 8th Avenue in downtown Nashville for a portion of the afternoon.
Officials with the Nashville Fire Department confirmed in a Tweet Friday that the leak has affected traffic from McGavock Street to Korean Vets Boulevard.
Large gas leak has shut down 8th Ave. from McGavock to the traffic circle at Korean Veterans near the Music City Center. Best to avoid area.

The incident stretches all the way to the traffic circle near the Music City Center.
Details of the leak were not available. The road was reopened around 4 p.m.
