Gas prices continue to fall by about half a cent a day, even though oil prices inched up last week.
According to Triple A, the national average is significantly below the $2 a gallon mark at $1.80.

That means Americans have a lot more money in their pockets; however, they're not spending it at this point.
Officials with the Commerce Department said consumer spending fell flat in December despite an increase in savings.
