A major effort to smuggle contraband into a maximum security prison was unraveled after an inmate working landscaping detail was caught.
The incident was reported at the Riverbend Maximum Security Institution, located in Davidson County.
According to the Tennessee Department of Correction, special agents zeroed in on an inmate working landscaping outside of the prison fencing.
He apparently made contact with someone on the outside who supplied him with contraband, which he stashed on a tractor and tried to bring back into the prison for re-sale.
Agents found a load of marijuana, tobacco, cell phones, chargers, BIC lighters and cigar wraps.
His outside connection was also arrested and charged with sending contraband into a penal institution.
