All over the nation people celebrated Flag Day: a time to honor the US flag and remember its adoption.

Flag Day was established by President Woodrow Wilson in 1916. It was celebrated nationwide on Wednesday.

While more and more Americans have been putting up flags in their communities, experts said many times they’re not being displayed correctly.

Many people may have not realized laws come with hanging the Stars and Stripes.

"It specifically says it has to be higher than all the other flags around it, or in front of all the flags around it, or if two flags are side by side, it has to be on its own right,” said Candace Adelson.

There have also been specific rules detailed for the Tennessee state flag. If you hang it horizontally, make sure the two stars are above the third, never the other way around.
