A warning has been released for business owners about a scam making its way around Middle Tennessee.

Officials with the Lebanon Police Department said people have been going into businesses and making large purchases with checks.

The suspects have been presenting drivers' licenses that match the checks. The checks have then been sent to the bank and returned.

All businesses should be diligent in checking and verifying information, according to officials.

Police recommended businesses take a picture of the person with the check, put thumb prints on the checks, or call to verify the checks have sufficient funds.

The suspects have been seen driving a U-Haul truck with a small trailer.
