A local man has been putting on a turkey fundraiser to help his community this Thanksgiving.

Romaine McKay, owner of Owner One Side Entertainment, has been collecting turkeys to donate to Second Harvest Food bank on Saturday, November 19.

This was the third year McKay’s put on the fundraiser.

His goal has been to collect 100 turkeys for Nashvillians in need. He said the fundraiser has been a big success in past years.

McKay said it's an important opportunity to help others.

"I wasn't fortunate growing up. I wasn't exposed to Thanksgiving," McKay said. "It's important to me especially because people support me throughout the year being an event planner, and I like to give back, and I'm not all about taking. I like to give back also. What best time to give back than Thanksgiving?"

Second Harvest said once they receive the turkeys they'll distribute them to foods banks, then food bank organizers will disperse them to those in need.

Anyone willing to help can drop off turkeys or canned goods to Island Vibes at 1316 Antioch Pike or Kool Runnings Jamaican Cuisine on 5238 Murfreesboro Road in La Vergne, as well as Alverine’s Kitchen at 2915 Murfreesboro Pike in Antioch.
