A long-time Middle Tennessee judge has passed away.
Reports confirmed 23rd Judicial Circuit Judge Robert E. Burch died Friday night after suffering a heart attack.
He retired in 2014, but returned to the bench to help with his district's heavy caseload.
He was also the founding judge of one of Tennessee's oldest drug courts and continued to serve on the team after he retired.
He was 69 years old.
