A suspect has been taken into custody after allegedly targeting police officers with his vehicle.

According to an affidavit from Metro Nashville Police, an officer was manning a barricade through downtown and noticed a suspect, identified as Ryan Medley, driving towards him.

Police said he drove up onto the curb and nearly took out the officer at 1st Avenue and Bank Street.

The officer jumped out of the way, but the suspect kept going.

Investigators said Medley drove to another post where a barricade was in place and attempted to hit an officer again.

Medley again allegedly sped up and drove towards the officer.

According to police documents, the man waved at them as he plummeted through the barricades.

Eventually, the suspect stopped for officers and was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Medley reportedly told police he wasn't trying to hit them, but he just wanted to go around them. The incidents remained under investigation.
