A Montgomery County man has been arrested and accused of trafficking a juvenile for the purpose of sex.

Authorities said they took 34-year-old Michael Scott Helton into custody Thursday night.

The arrest was made by special agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Human Trafficking Unit, as well as officials with the Drug Investigation Division Agents and the Clarksville Police Department.

TBI agents had been investigating Helton, an unregistered sex offender, and developed information he trafficked a 17-year-old female this week for the purpose of providing a commercial sex act at a Clarksville motel.

He has been charged with one count of trafficking for a commercial sex act.

Helton was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a $55,000 bond.

According to reports, the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, along with the Child Advocacy Center, have been helping the TBI in caring for the recovered juvenile.
