Man Arrested For DUI, Crashed Stolen Vehicle With Kids Inside

A man was arrested on multiple charges, including driving under the influence and theft of a vehicle, after crashing his vehicle with two small children inside.

Authorities said 29-year-old Antwone D. Brady was taken into custody Saturday night near Dickerson Pike and Briley Parkway.

Officials said they were working a non-related call when Brady was seen driving on Dickerson Pike. Authorities said Brady crashed into the back of one of the patrol vehicles.

Once Brady was out of the car, he had extremely slurred speech and could not stand up without the help of an officer or a vehicle., according to reports. Officials also stated he had watery, bloodshot eyes.

Police observed that two children, both under the age of five, were inside Brady’s vehicle.

When authorities ran Brady’s license, it came back as revoked. Brady was read his rights. He agreed to a blood draw, but was not able to complete the standard field sobriety tests due to being impaired.

Authorities then ran the vehicle tag and discovered it was stolen.

According to a witness, Brady was seen backing into a vehicle in the 3200 block of Moorewood, causing damage just before the crash involving the patrol car.

The witness added that he approached Brady, which was when Brady said, “Please don't call police,” before driving away from the scene.

Brady was charged with theft of property between $10,000 and $60,000, child endangerment, driving under the influence, failure to give information or render aid, driving on a revoked license, and leaving the scene of an accident with damage over $500.

He was being held on a $45,000 bond.
