A man has been placed behind bars facing a charge of aggravated kidnapping after police said he allegedly choked a man, taped his feet together, and left him for dead.
Authorities said the victim has been expected to be okay, but the suspect allegedly told the victim he was only alive because a third man who was supposed to come help kill him, never showed up.
Police said 23-year-old Ladarrius Sullivan lived with the victim at a home in the 2900 block of Emery Drive.
According to reports, the victim was sleeping in his room when a man walked in and began to hit him with a golden goose statue until he began to lose consciousness.
Authorities said Sullivan and another man continued to hit him and stole items out of his pockets.
Sullivan dragged the victim into the living room where his feet were taped together, and he was strangled until he passed out.
Police said the victim woke up in the back floorboard of a silver Chevrolet Impala.
According to the victim, Sullivan and the other man drove him to Highway 109 in Wilson County.
The victim said Sullivan told him the third person who was supposed to come and help kill him did not show up, so they would just leave him there and kill his mother instead.
The victim walked to a Mapco gas station where he was able to call his mother and warn her, as well as ask for a ride.
Police said that's when his mother called 911 and went to pick up her son.
Sullivan has been taken into custody. No further details were available.
