A man has been arrested in the rape of a nanny at a local park.
After an eight-week investigation, authorities confirmed they have issued arrest warrants for 26-year-old Dennis Naptali Ramos-Montes.
The incident took place at Hamilton Creek Park on August 4 when an 18-year-old nanny was violently raped.
Ramos-Montes has been charged with two counts of aggravated rape and one count of felony theft for stealing the victim’s cell phone.
Reports stated DNA evidence definitively linked Ramos-Montes, a native of Honduras, to the daytime attack.
Detectives confirmed Ramos-Montes was already in Metro Jail due to his September 15th arrest on multiple charges, including burglary of his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle, order of protection violation, vandalism, criminal trespassing, three counts of evading arrest, one count of attempt to evade arrest, resisting arrest, and driving without a license.
Authorities said he was also arrested before that in the early morning hours of August 27 on a charge of felony aggravated domestic assault.
In that case, his 18-year-old girlfriend reported he kicked her, grabbed her around the neck with both hands, and dragged her off a couch.
Ramos-Montes’ bond was set at $35,000. Officials said the victim obtained an order of protection.
According to reports, Ramos-Montes posted bond and was released from jail on September 12.
An incident on the morning of September 15 involving his ex-girlfriend led to his arrest again, in which he remained in jail at the time the rape warrants were issued.
A DNA sample taken from Ramos-Montes matched a sample taken from evidence recovered from the August 4 rape case.
Authorities added the victim’s phone was found during the investigation. It was smashed and buried.
“Our investigation shows that Ramon-Montes was a danger to this community,” Chief Steve Anderson said. “I am grateful to Detective Fleming, who worked tirelessly to identify this man, and to the Hermitage Precinct officers and laboratory scientists whose dedicated skills were part of bringing this case to the point that charges have now been placed.”
