Man Charged With Animal Cruelty In Dog's Death

A convicted felon has been charged in a case of animal cruelty against his family's dog.

According to an affidavit from Metro Nashville Police, officers were called to a home on Neill Avenue after a report of gunshots.

The suspect's wife, who works as an armed security guard, let officers into the home and said her husband got hold of the gun.

He reportedly told police that he drank two pints of alcohol and smoked marijuana before shooting the family dog with his wife's gun.

Officers found the pet deceased at the scene and recovered the .40 caliber handgun.

Police said he's also felon out of of Illinois.
