A man has died following an overnight home invasion north of downtown Nashville, and police said the shooting appeared to be drug-related.
The incident happened shortly before 1 a.m. Wednesday at an apartment on Curtis Street.
Officials with Metro Police said two men came inside the home and shot the victim once.
The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Laltaro D. Guinn.
Authorities confirmed five people were inside at the time of the home invasion. Police said they were not sure at this time if everyone inside the home lived there. All were questioned at the north precinct.
One man visiting Guinn left the apartment to smoke around 12:40 a.m. when he said he was confronted by two masked gunmen who forced him back inside.
That's when the gunmen allegedly ordered those inside to the floor while asking, "Where's it at?"
Shots were then fired, which was when Guinn was killed.
Officials confirmed a caller said they heard ten shots.
The victim was shot in the torso, and it was believed the bullet may have pierced his heart.
Police said Guinn was a convicted felon and had allegedly been selling cocaine and Xanax.
The suspects were described as two black men wearing all black, with at least one of them wearing a green mask. They possibly left the scene in a silver sedan.
