Man Leaves Dog Behind At Scene Of Hit-&-Run

A woman has been searching for the man who left behind his dog after slamming into her vehicle parked in her driveway Monday night. The man fled the scene of the crash.

"The guy’s like, 'Somebody watch my dog. I’m going to move my vehicle out of the road,'" said Erica Zajdel. "I looked at my neighbor and I was like, 'He’s going to take off.'"

Zajdel was inside her Dickson County home when she heard a loud noise near the front of her home. When she looked outside, her neighbors were walking over to her yard, and the car in her driveway was smashed into pieces.

"He came up into my yard, hit my car, skidded over to the neighbors' yard, and ultimately ended up across the street almost in the ditch," Zajdel said.

Neighbors said the driver was in a dark-colored two-door pickup truck that will now have damage to its driver side door.

Meanwhile, Zajdel has hoped the man will come forward to claim his dog. Otherwise, she has planned to work with a Clarksville rescue to find a new, permanent home.

"I can't change the accident," she said. "But I can try to find this dog a home."
