The man accused of hitting and killing a Metro police officer on Interstate 65 has pled guilty.
Dean Diver made the plea in court Friday. In accordance with a plea agreement, Diver has been sentenced to serve two years on probation.
In May 2014, the then 72-year-old Diver hit and killed Officer Michael Petrina on Interstate 65. Officer Petrina had been directing traffic around a crash and had been on the force just eight months when he passed away.
Diver, of Key Largo, pled guilty to a charge of reckless homicide resulting in Officer Petrina’s death.
In October, the Officer Michael Petrina Memorial Interchange was revealed on Old Hickory Boulevard in Brentwood near exit 74.
