A man was shot with a bean bag round after allegedly holding a child at knifepoint in Humphreys County.
The incident happened Thursday afternoon at a residence on Old Highway 13 in Waverly.
Officials with the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Office said a mother was inside the home with her 4-year-old when she said Matthew Clements started throwing rocks at the house.
She was so scared she called 911.
With deputies en-route to the scene, Clements allegedly forced his way inside the home and made the mother walk outside, leaving her child behind.
Arriving officials said when the suspect didn't comply with authorities, Chief Deputy Rob Edwards shot Clements with a bean bag from a 12-gauge shotgun.
The child was released and wasn't hurt. Clements was treated for minor injuries.
He was treated for minor injuries and booked on aggravated kidnapping charges. It's unknown if he has an attorney.
