Man Wanted After Armed Robbery In Springfield

Police said they’re searching for a man who allegedly threatened to shoot a customer during an armed robbery.

The incident took place around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Novedades Mariela, Hispanic store in the 200 block of 10th Avenue in Springfield.

Authorities said an unidentified suspect entered the store armed with a black semi-automatic handgun.

He pointed the gun at the clerk and demanded money, according to reports.

Police said the suspect then allegedly pointed the gun at a female customer and said, “I’ll shoot her, give me the money.”

Reports stated the suspect got away with an unknown amount of money and a bag of rolled coins.

He fled from the store and ran behind the building toward the railroad tracks.

Officials said the suspect was wearing greenish blue jeans, a black sweat shirt with a white logo in the center of the back, and panty-hose over his face. He also had on a black cap with a small white logo on the front and white gloves.
