Police in Mt. Juliet confirmed they’ve arrested a man wanted in Kentucky for sex crimes.
An officer stopped a Nissan Altima for a traffic violation around 6 p.m. Friday near Adams Lane and South Mt. Juliet Road.
Authorities said during an investigation, a handgun was found under the driver’s seat.
The communications center also notified the officer that the driver was wanted in Kentucky for statutory rape, sodomy, and burglary.
The driver, identified as Graylin Waters, Jr., of Smyrna, tried to resist and run away when the officer attempted to take him into custody.
Waters was quickly captured after a chase into the woods. During the chase, authorities set up a containment perimeter around the area.
A taser was deployed during the incident.
Waters was booked into the Wilson County Jail and charged with fugitive from justice, resisting arrest, evading arrest, and driving without a license.
He was being held awaiting extradition to Kentucky where he was facing charges of third-degree statutory rape, third-degree sodomy, and second-degree burglary.
