Posted

A man’s body was found one day after a vacant home burned.

Authorities said the fire happened around 8:44 p.m. Friday at a vacant home in the 600 block of 45th Avenue North.

On Saturday afternoon, officials confirmed a man’s body was found covered by debris, hidden behind a refrigerator door.

The fire on Friday had heavy flames coming from the back of the home. The house was fully engulfed when crews arrived at the scene.

Preliminary searches of the home were conducted, and firefighters said they did not find anyone inside.

The fire was under control within 15 minutes.

Reports stated there was no electricity or gas in the home, and it was believed to have been vacant for the past three months.

A group authorized to salvage materials from the home arrived at the scene Saturday afternoon and discovered the man’s body. The group immediately called 911.

The man’s identity and cause of death had not been determined.

Both the fire and the man’s death remained under investigation. Authorities said there were no immediate signs of arson.
