A mother and her children were not hurt after being held at gunpoint during a home invasion in Hermitage.

The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. Wednesday at a residence on Gina Brooke Drive. Officials with Metro Nashville Police said four suspects remain on the run.

Brittney Rush was alone with her three children when police said she was robbed at gunpoint. She said she answered the door to find a man who identified himself as "Mad Man" looking for her roommate.

Rush asked the man to come back an hour later since he wasn't there. He returned earlier than expected with other people who bum-rushed her.

She spoke exclusively to NewsChannel 5 reporter Matthew Torres about the frightening encounter.

"I was trying to do everything they asked me to do so I couldn't lose my life and my baby," she said.

Police said one held her at gunpoint while they searched for the home.

“I wasn’t worried about myself, I was more worried about my baby because she was sitting in my lap,” Rush said. “I was just so scared. The pull of that trigger could've taken me and my baby out.”

Rush said they took money and prescription drugs from her roommate's room. One of them was wearing a ski mask.

Police were working to identify one of the suspects.
