Nashville Woman Gives Christmas Gifts To Needy

Posted

Hundreds of Christmas gifts were handed out in East Nashville on Sunday to help families who may otherwise not be able to afford gifts for their children.

For seven years, Kimberly Williams of PJ’s Homecare has been giving back to the community she was once a part of.

“I used to live over here,” Williams said. “Me and my kids used to live over here, so we just come back every year and give back kids gifts.”

Williams, along with her family, have worked all year to find deals on hundreds of toys and household items that can help make someone’s holiday special.

“Just to see smiles on everybody’s face that come out,” Williams explained as one of the reasons she loves giving rather than receiving during the holidays.

In all, 200 children will be getting four gifts a piece thanks to the kindness of others.

“Little stuff like this counts,” Jhane Ridley, a first-time participant in this event, said.

Ridley said this was her last option to get her 3-year-old daughter gifts for Christmas.

“She’s like, ‘I’ve been good this year mama, so is Santa Claus going to bring me something?' and I said yes baby girl,” Ridley explained.

On top of gifts, families were given everyday products such as shampoo and toothpaste. These items may not seem like a big deal, but in the long run, they can help out.

“I’m thankful for what I got,” Ridley said.

While many families left happy, Williams and her family left with their hearts filled with joy, and ready to get started on another year of Christmas shopping.

“Day after Christmas, we go out shopping and we just shop all year around,” Williams explained.

Williams and her family have planned to continue giving back as long as they’re able.
