In honor of the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service, the Chief Historian Emeritus of the Park Service made a stop at Timberland Park.

The special event took place Sunday at the park just off of Natchez Trace Parkway.

Ed Bearss, age 93, served as the Chief Historian of the National Park Service from 1981 to 1994. He first began working for the park service in the late 1940’s after serving in World War II.

The actual 100th anniversary for the National Park Service will be Thursday, August 25. Celebrations have been planned in many parks on that day.
