A fire at a home in West Nashville has been declared an arson.
Investigators said they’re seeking information on the arson that happened around 10 p.m. Monday at a home in the 500 block of Newton Avenue.
The home was vacant and had previously been rented out. According to an investigation, whoever set the fire likely started it by lighting a cardboard box containing floor tiles on fire on a rear porch.
Officials said the fire moved up into the attic and spread quickly, destroying the home.
That same neighborhood has seen a handful of fires over the past few years, according to authorities, and those with the Nashville Fire Department have asked anyone with information to call the Arson Hotline at 615-862-5640.
