Authorities in Montgomery County have been warning the public of a scammer who has claimed to be a deputy.
Police said at least two people have received calls from the scammer. He has told them his name is James Marshall with a badge number of 7311.
Officials said one potential victim said the phone number the scammer called from was 931-257-0870.
According to reports, the scammer has told victims they have warrants on file and added they need to make a cash withdrawal of $750 to clear the warrants.
"A sheriff's deputy would never call a citizen to solicit money,” said Sandra Brandon, of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. “This is a scam."
