Police in Hendersonville have been investigating after what appeared to be a gun was pointed at a mail carrier and reportedly fired.
Authorities said the incident happened around 12:30 p.m. Saturday on West Harbor Drive.
A man said he was delivering mail when a dark-colored sedan with two people inside drove by at a high rate of speed. He added someone inside the vehicle pointed what appeared to be a gun in his direction and fired.
Officials said even though the gun made a sound, no evidence had been collected at the scene to support it being a real gun. Police added that with the information they’ve gathered so far, it has become questionable as to whether or not it was a real gun.
However, authorities said even though no evidence supported that the item was an actual weapon that could produce projectiles, the actions of the person in the vehicle still placed fear in the victim, which officials said constituted a crime of aggravated assault.
Anyone with information has been urged to call the Hendersonville Police Department at 615-264-5303 or Hendersonville Crime Stoppers at 615-573-5400.
