A man was taken into custody after allegedly attacking a woman with a baseball bat on the side of Interstate 40.
The incident happened around midnight Monday on the shoulder of I-40 between Demonbreun Street and the I-65 ramp.
Witnesses called police saying a man was chasing a woman with a bat in that area.
NewsChannel 5 captured exclusive video of Antonio Owens being put into a squad car at the scene.
Police said he had blood on his fist and admitted to punching the victim in the face.
The woman was treated by paramedics. She also reportedly lost a tooth during the attack.
An officer on the scene said her injuries are not life-threatening, but he believes she was hit twice on her head and several other times.
Police were looking through a bag that appeared to be evidence.
Officers said it was a domestic situation. Owens was charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
