A man has been arrested after allegedly ramming a police patrol car and then leading officers on a chase overnight.

Officials with Metro Nashville Police said the suspect, identified as 71-year-old Sonnie Allison Luster, had been breaking into several vehicles parked at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital.

Sometime later, officers attempted to pull him over for a traffic stop.

Police said Luster initially stopped, but then rammed one of the squad cars and sped off.

A chase later ensued after officers spotted him in the area of Clarksville Pike and Briley Parkway.

Officers deployed spike strips, and all four tires were deflated on Luster’s vehicle.

He eventually surrendered and was arrested.

Luster has been charged with vandalism, aggravated assault on an officer with a deadly weapon, leaving the scene of an accident, three counts of evading arrest, and a traffic violation regarding his headlights.
