Police: Man Threatened Clerks With Screwdriver

A man has been arrested after allegedly threatening employees at a local Dollar General store with a screwdriver.

According to an affidavit from Metro Nashville Police, the incident happened Tuesday at a Dollar General on 1st Avenue South.

Officers happened to be nearby and heard customers yelling for help. They saw a suspect, identified as Darnell Gregory, with what looked like bed sheets under his right arm and a screw driver in his left.

Two stores employees tried to chase him down but he allegedly threatened to stab them.

Police were able to arrest Gregory at the scene. He was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The screwdriver was taken in as evidence.
