Metro Nashville Police officers solved two shootings near downtown Nashville with the arrest of one suspect.

Jerry Lamont Esaw, age 48, has been charged with attempted criminal homicide and aggravated assault after two, separate shootings near the Boys and Girls Club.

Police said Esaw shot Davario Kendricks twice in the 900 block of 16th Avenue North on July 18.

According to an affidavit, Esaw was upset that Kendricks was in the neighborhood, which resulted in an argument.

Kendricks was shot twice before he fell to the ground.

Police said Esaw placed the gun to Kendricks' head and pulled the trigger but the revolver failed to fire.

On July 13, police responded to the same area on reports of a female shot in the thigh.

Courtney McHaney told police she had argued with a man she knew as "Esaw." She told officers the man was upset that she was in the neighborhood, shot her and then ran away.

Both victims positively identified Esaw in photo lineups. He was held on a $650,000 bond.
