Two suspected shoplifters were arrested after allegedly trying to run over an officer before leading police on a chase through Green Hills.

Officials with Metro Nashville Police said 26-year-old Tawonda Parrish was seen running out of Macy’s in the Green Hills Mall with merchandise in her hands.

She got into a waiting Honda, reportedly being driven by 25-year-old Stardreaka Eddings.

An officer turned on his lights and drove up to the Honda. Police said he was standing outside the driver door of the cruiser when Eddings aimed the car at him and accelerated.

Police said the officer was able to move but Eddings struck the driver’s side door, forcing him back into the vehicle. He did suffer minor injuries in the incident.

A pursuit ensued and police said she ran multiple red lights and traveled into oncoming traffic in an effort to get away.

According to investigators, speeds reached around 60 mph before the chase came to an end in the 100 block of Cherokee Road.

Eddings and Parrish reportedly tried to take off on foot but were arrested shortly after leaving their vehicle.

Authorities said more than $2600 worth of merchandise was stolen.

According to police, Parrish was convicted of shoplifting from the Green Hills Macy’s last summer and had been asked not to return to the store.  She has also been convicted of shoplifting on at least five other occasions since 2013.

She was charged with felony theft, criminal trespassing and evading arrest and released after posting a $30,000 bond.

Eddings was charged with attempted vehicular homicide, felony theft, criminal trespassing, vandalism, evading arrest, leaving the scene of an injury crash, failure to render aid, reckless driving, and driving on a suspended license.

She remained jailed in lieu of $85,000 bond.
