Rainy Conditions Cause Problems For Commuters

Posted

Widespread rainy conditions have caused numerous traffic problems for commuters across the Nashville area.

A cold front began pushing through late Sunday night into Monday morning, causing gusty winds and heavy rain throughout Middle Tennessee.

The entrance ramp to Interstate 24 East from Briley Parkway is currently blocked due to an overturned tractor trailer.

According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation, the wreck isn’t expected to be cleared until 9 a.m.

Further south, two crashes on I-24 West in Smyrna have caused major delays for motorists heading into Nashville. A 10-mile backup was reported, resulting in a commute time of 108 minutes.

Earlier in the morning, another crash along Interstate 40 stalled eastbound traffic near the Highway 70 South exit. That incident has since cleared but caused significant delays.

Around 4 a.m. another wreck briefly closed northbound Interstate 65 near Goodlettsville. Details of the crash were not known, but the scene has since cleared, as well.
