Officials with the Columbia Fire Department announced the passing of retired Chief Tommy Hemphill.
Details on Hemphill’s death had not been released.
Authorities expressed their sadness and condolences on social media in a statement that read:
“It is with deepest regrets that we pass along the news of Retired Chief Tommy Hemphill's passing. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, members of CFD and all lives that this noble man impacted. Rest easy Chief Tommy Hemphill.”
