Officials in Rutherford County have confirmed the resignation of Sergeant Todd Hammond.
A reason for the resignation had not been released. In Hammond's resignation letter, he said:
"Since September I have carefully considered my future with the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office. I greatly appreciate the opportunity to be a leader amongst the patrol division and to have been guided by my immediate chain of command."
Hammond stated his last day has been set for December 4.
