Slain Nashville Nurse Laid To Rest In Loretto

A community came together to say goodbye to a nurse who was murdered inside her Nashville condo in what police have called a rare and random act of violence.

"She was loving, caring, giving. She would give you the shirt off of her back."

All of those words were used to describe Tiffany Ferguson, the 23-year-old nurse, as broken hearts came together to bury their loved one.

"It has just shocked the community, and everyone's just lost for words," said Kathy Staggs.

Ferguson was killed when she was stabbed by a burglar who broke into her Wedgwood Park condo early Tuesday morning.

She was an ICU nurse at St. Thomas West Hospital who was described as having a big heart, trying to give aid to others when they needed it most.

"Teal was Tiffany's color she loved it, so we've been out putting ribbons everywhere," said Staggs.

Loretto was draped in teal ribbons, as friends and family gathered to say goodbye to Ferguson one last time.

Staggs said she watched Ferguson grow up in their tight knit community, and when one hurts, the entire community hurts, too.

Though the tears were shed and hearts were broken, friends and family said they'll cherish the memories.

"She was always wanting to do good for people. She went to Guatemala on her nursing trip from UNA, and as you can see in the pictures, she loved her job," said Staggs.

Sometimes one of the hardest things to say is goodbye, but for now the community has continued to hold on to the only thing they can, each other.

"She may be gone, but she will never be forgotten," said Staggs.

Police say they're following strong leads, but still no arrests have been made.

Anyone with information that could help find Ferguson's attacker has been asked to call Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
