It has been a hot button issue for people in Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn's district. Were those who attended a town hall meeting this week mainly from outside of her district?
Concerned residents in Fairview discussed the issue on Saturday.
They said they’re upset with how earlier in the week Representative Blackburn described many of the people who attended the town hall.
During an interview she said less than one third of the people who showed up lived in her district.
"Once she heard what we were doing and how frustrated we were at being unable to attend a meeting, she scheduled on her own and with her staff four other town hall meetings and is to be commended for that. She's not to be commended for misrepresenting her audience," said Bernie Ellis, who helped organize the alternative town hall.
"She came out and introduced herself and agreed that we wouldn't all agree on the same things but that we always had her back and then she left. She didn't take any questions from the group outside," said 93-year-old Irma Cotton, who was with the group of residents waiting outside to hear from the congresswoman.
Many people were upset over the statement about who attended the town hall saying that claim was untrue and there wasn't a way to verify it.
